Rd. east ext. in Moreland Hills) with the Heifer International Farmstead

Heifer Project International
For over 20 years, Garfield Church has helped hungry families
around the world through the gift of a farm animal, an important step
toward ending a family's poverty. Heifer Project animals (goats, cows,
chickens, etc.) are given to the poor with training in their care.
Families have a way to feed themselves and become self-sufficient. For
further information, please visit:

Berea Children's Home and Family Services
Founded in 1864, Berea Home is the oldest child service agency
affiliated with the United Methodist Church. It started as an orphanage
during the Civil War and today serves children and families in 40 counties
in northeast Ohio, through a wide variety of social service programs,
providing hope to children and families in need. For further information,

Africa University
Located in Mutare, Zimbabwe, the university enrolled its first
class of 42 students in 1992, and today has 875 students enrolled.
Bachelor degrees in theology, agriculture, natural resources, education,
management and administration, humanities and social sciences are offered
as well as a master's degree in theology and business. United Methodists
from around the globe literally created a university for all of Africa
from a simple cornfield. Our foundation has contributed $49,000 to the
university over the past several years.
Church World Service
Sponsored by Church Women United, United Methodist Women and 27
other organizations, Church World Service provides emergency relief and
recovery aid around the world. Within 24 hours of an emergency, CWS is on
site with provisions to help those in need. Garfield Church participates
in Blanket Sunday, Tools of Hope Sunday, making school bags, and filling
health kits. For further information, please visit:

Food Pantry
Through the generosity of our congregation, non-perishable
foods and paper products are collected throughout the year. Volunteers
sort and distribute the items to Orange Community Services, Chagrin Falls
Park, New Life Community and other agencies.
Christmas Food Baskets – During the holiday season, we provide a full
basket of food for families to prepare a traditional Christmas dinner. The
congregation contributes specific food items, and we purchase turkeys or
hams for each family. Volunteers organize and deliver the baskets to needy
families in our community.
Mitten Tree
Each Christmas season, a special tree is decorated with
donations of mittens, hats and scarves which are distributed to needy
children in the area.
Contact Pastor Terry McHugh for information on any of these mission outreach
