“Walk It Out” Wednesdays 6:30 for Jr. & Sr. High Youth OPEN GYM 4:30-6:30
PM has begun but it is not too late to get in
on the fun hang-out time that tackles real issues in our very real
lives. We are meeting on Wednesdays through Lent in the South Meeting
Room. Come and bring friends -- open to all youth.

the Christmas Star

UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS — On May 11
(Mother’s Day), the youth will be doing a Bake Sale after both services
… this is a great way to help the youth mission trip and show off that
secret family recipe for bread or cookies. Also the youth will be
getting dirty to get your cars clean on June 7 at the annual youth
carwash. Proceeds from the carwash and concessions will again go to the
Youth Mission Trip Fund. If you have any ideas or would like to
participate, please contact Pastor Matt.
Confirmation Classes begin March 9, from 10 -11 AM (Youth
Room). If you are in 7th grade (or above) and are interested in
exploring confirmation and what it means to be a member of Christ’s
church, please contact Matt Wills via email at matt@garfield church.org.
If you have not yet received baptism into the Christian Church, it will
be part of your confirmation. Confirmation Sunday is on May 18th.
CEDAR POINT on June 13th!! Pastor Matt is still collecting
names of Jr. High and Sr. High students interested in going to Cedar
Point on June 13th. We will leave early at 8:30 and come back around
7:00. Cost is $30 (a savings of over $10 on regular admission!) Please
contact Pastor Matt if you are interested.
YOUTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE is June
13th-15th. YAC 2008 is a chance for Jr. and Sr. High to participate in
the change of local issues in the East Ohio Methodist Conference. I must
confess this is the most excited I have been in a long time about YAC...
Two reasons 1) You have me as a youth pastor J and 2) The band Harlend
is leading worship, the lead singer is one of my best friends from high
school; check them out at http://www.myspace.com/harlend. So I encourage
all of the youth to think beyond the Cedar Point Extravaganza and come
out to see how it’s your turn to change the world.
Youth Mission Trip — July13-19th.
The date is set and the time is gradually approaching so be ready for
the time of your life and a chance to serve Christ. We will be heading
to Hedgesville, West Virginia, to do some rural mountain mission work …
and I know you are asking yourself what does that even mean? Well
luckily there will be an informational meeting in the near future so be
looking for it soon. Spots on this trip are very limited (8 Left) so the first to
get deposits in will have priority. A deposit of $75 due ASAP and the total amount is $275… we are doing multiple fundraisers to
lower the cost, so make sure to help. Contact Pastor Matt Wills if you
are interested in this chance to serve.
Adult Bible Study, Thursdays, 8:00 PM:
The journey of “Re-painting the Christian Faith” has begun again as the
Young Adult Group dove into the first Chapter of Velvet Elvis by Rob
Bell. We are being challenged right now to jump freely into the teaching
of Jesus and the life he lived… we hope you will jump in too! We
currently meet at Pastor Matt’s apartment in Cleveland Heights,
Thursdays from 8-10:30.
